2016 Illinois Solar Tour: Springfield Bike Tour

This year as a part of the Illinois Solar Tour, the Springfield area is organizing a bike tour of Springfield sites! Register to attend!

The Illinois Solar Tour is a FREE PUBLIC OPEN HOUSE to demonstrate how Illinois homes and businesses are using solar, wind, geothermal, passive solar design, and energy efficiency to be energy independent.

On Saturday October 1st members of the Springfield Bicycle Club will lead a group bike tour of local homes and organizations that are taking part in the 2016 Illinois Solar Tour.  The tour will consist of two bike rides that will each travel at a leisurely pace of 6-10 miles.   The morning bike ride will include stops at 4-5 sites with renewable energy systems in the southern part of the city, including the Abraham Lincoln Unitarian Universalist Congregation and Prairie Engineers.  The afternoon ride will include stops at Maldaner’s Restaurant, Kerasotes Building and Bicycle Doctor.

Morning Ride (South Loop):

Saturday, October 1, 10:00 a.m.

Starting location: Southwind Park, 4965 S. 2nd. St.

 

Afternoon Ride (Downtown/North Loop):

Saturday, October 1, 1:00 p.m.

Starting location: Capitol Complex Visitors Center, 425 S. College Street
