Join Prairie Rivers Network on February 8th at 6pm for an overview and conversation about increasing access to solar energy for electric customers in municipal and rural electric cooperative territory. A new Illinois law says that these customers have the “right to self generate” their electricity. Questions remain if municipalities and co-ops will update their limiting policies to address barriers to self-generate solar electricity such as out-of-pocket infrastructure costs, real-time and short-term reconciliation, monthly solar fees, prohibition of Power Purchase Agreements, and excessive insurance requirements.
Join us to explore these barriers and learn how municipalities and co-ops can adopt policies that recognize the benefits of solar energy, allow residential, commercial, and non-profit customers to connect their systems to the grid, and fairly compensate them for the electricity that they generate.
