Testa Produce Inc.. is Chicagoland’s premier produce distributor to the foodservice industry. In 2011 Testa moved into the nation’s first LEED Platinum certified facility equipped with wind and solar energy generation, a water management system, and efficient lighting and refrigeration.

The facility’s wind turbine stands 238 feet tall and produces approximately 30% of the building’s energy demand, while solar panels are in place to generate energy and heat water used in the building. This facility is unlike any other and is a must see for anyone interested in exploring the implementation of sustainability in an urban setting.

Exelon Pavilions

The four Exelon Pavilions, which use state-of-the art technology to convert solar energy into electricity, are an integral part of Chicago’s efforts to become the most environmentally-friendly city in North America. Together, the Pavilions provide enough electricity annually to power 14 star-rated energy-efficient houses in Chicago.

The northwest and northeast pavilions are minimalist black cubes designed to complement the neighboring Harris Theater.

The northwest pavilion houses the Millennium Park Welcome Center, along with an Exelon energy display area
