Community Renewable Energy Deployment Success Stories: How Solar Power Can Work for You

Using both Illinois projects and his international work, Mr. Schmidt CEO of Renewable Energy Alternatives (REA) in Northbrook will discuss his companies work in both commercial and residential markets. His experience with various governments in Chicago and collar counties in addition, to various construction obstacles and resolution will be a focus of discussion. Looking at soft costs he will elaborate on his experience with project finance obstacles, risk elements & consideration, permitting requirements and finance.

 A fee of $10.00 is required for ISEA Members  and  $15.00 for non-members to attend.

CEO of Renewable Energy Alternatives, Mr. Schmidt is an engineering graduate of Northern Arizona University and Northwestern University.   An experienced contractor and developer with over 30 years of experience, he has been on the leading edge of the High Performance Green Building.  From a family of craftsman and builders, Mr. Schmidt developed and built two (2) of the first net zero homes in South Chicago using  a solar PV roof shingles, prefabricated exterior wall system by Tech-Built and much more.

Currently, Mr. Schmidt is CEO of Renewable Energy Alternatives (REA) in Northbrook through which, he is helping Illinois harvest the power of the sun and wind.   With over 200 installations, REA continues to earn its place as Illinois' most trusted name in renewables.  The solar development company specializes in the design, engineering, installation, and maintenance of solar and wind arrays.  In this capacity, REA has installed more than 300 kW in solar PV, wind and hybrid systems, and has been a key participant in reducing the areas carbon footprint.
