Loop Value: The How Much Does It Cost? Shop for Chicagoans

The Chicago Architecture Foundation (CAF) special exhibition, Loop Value: The How Much Does It Cost? Shop, reveals insights into the true cost of everyday items we use. Designed as a store, the exhibition takes visitors on a shopping trip through over a dozen departments revealing the hidden value of products while educating them on how to make better buying choices contributing to building healthier communities for tomorrow.

Here are just a few facts that can be found in the How Much Does It Cost? exhibition pertaining to Chicagoans.

  • Updating Chicago’s traffic lights with LEDs should save Chicago more than $1,065,000 annually and reduce carbon dioxide pollution by 8,100 metric tons.
  • Chicagoans who car-share save up to $5,000 each year on transportation costs.
  • Chicagoans can bike 315 miles of lanes and accessible roads.
  •  Chicago receives about 90% of the sunlight that Miami does each year, making it ideal for solar power installations.
  •  The $2 Chicagoan’s pay for every 1,000 gallons of water doesn’t fully cover the costs to provide it.
