People’s Climate Movement Chicago
Clean Air, Clean Water, Clean Jobs, Climate Justice!
Oct. 14 is going to be big. In cities and towns all across the country, people and organizations are coming together to demand that our leaders #ActOnClimate.
Last year, 400,000 people showed their power in New York City at the People’s Climate March to demand a just transition to a clean energy future. This October, we'll show that the People's Climate March in New York City was just the beginning. Now’s our chance to take that energy and urgency back to our communities in the People’s Climate Movement: a national day of action that will show the strength of our movement across the country as the US Government prepares for December’s Paris Climate Talks.
Here in Chicago, an unprecedented coalition of labor, faith environmental and environmental justice, and student groups are coming together to demand that our Governor address climate change like the emergency that it is.
Join us at the historic Old St. Pat’s Church for a vigil and reflection on the need for climate justice. Then march with us to sites throughout the West Loop and Loop that highlight the importance of collective power and the possibilities that a clean energy economy would create for Illinois. We’ll end at the Thompson Center to state loudly and clearly that we want our Gov. to take action on climate, and that as a first step he can work to implement the EPA’s Clean Power Plan in a strong and just manner in Illinois.
