Solar Energizes McHenry County College

Join USGBC for an exciting evening to learn about solar energy and sustainability at McHenry County College!

McHenry County College is fully committed to sustainability and has recently completed a 91kW photovoltaic solar array to help the school achieve their renewable energy goals.  You will meet the school's President and Sustainability Director and learn about how the school is incorporating sustainability into their operations and academics.  The Project Manager and Installer for the solar photovoltaic system will explain how the renewable energy system works, how it was funded and installed, and how renewable energy can be used in your communities.


Speakers will include:

Dr. Vicki Smith, President of McHenry County College

Kim Hankins, Director of Sustainability at McHenry County College

Doug Snower, Co-Founder of Windfree Wind and Solar Energy Company

John Katrakis, President of J.T. Katrakis & Associates

5:30 – 6:00                  Networking and Registration

6:00 – 7:30                  Presentations

The event will be held at the College's Shah Center in the City of McHenry.  The Center provides training and assistance to over 600 area businesses and close to 9,000 individuals each year.  With the large number of guests that visit the building, the solar project will receive high visibility in the county and region.
