Chicago Clean Power Coalition

If you haven't yet come to a meeting - please do!  We're expanding our organizing efforts to include regional community meetings and grass-roots organizing via "on the ground" ward teams. And we need your help to carry this off.

So join us on the 28th!  You can help us:
  • Finalize planning and publicity for our July 14 community meeting in Hyde Park.
  • Initiate planning for a regional event in the "power plant wards" (Wards 18 and 22).
  • Decide upon measurable, quantitative goals for the campaign.
  • Expand our canvassing efforts at neighborhood festivals and farmers markets.
  • Get our ward teams up and running in all 50 wards!

Remember...we want Chicago to be the green city that it claims to be by first cleaning up Fisk and Crawford, to old coal plants.  They are among the dirtiest coal plants in the nation!  Particulates spewed from these plants prematurely claim the lives of over 40 people each year.  Fisk and Crawford also spew large amounts of carbon dioxide (CO2) into our atmosphere, contributing to climate change.  Each year CO2 from these plants equals that which is emitted by nearly 875,000 cars. Cleaning up the two coal plants is just the right thing to do.
