Illinois Solar Tour

  • 03 Oct 2009
  • 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM
  • Illinois
Each year the Illinois Solar Energy Association is proud to participate in the American solar Energy Society's National Solar Tour.  For over fourteen years, the National Tour of Solar Buildings has introduced people to local examples of homes, businesses and schools powered by the sun.

2009 is the first year that the National Solar Tour will appear in all fifty of the United States, as well as the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.  It is a sign that solar power for electricity, heating, and cooling, as well as other renewable energy sources, is going nationwide.  The rate of solar installations is now approaching thousands each week, and the time is not far off when it will be thousands each day.

As you tour the over 100 buildings on the tour, just think - this could be you for 2010 and beyond!  Remember, solar and renewable energy are the energy sources that can be harvested and used in every county and locality in Illinois.

This tour is self-guided.  On the tour website and in the tour guidebook you will find addresses of many homes, institutions and businesses owned or managed by people who have graciously volunteered to demonstrate how they are using solar and wind energy successfully.

Enjoy the tour!
