Retrofit Installation Specialist
The Illinois Green Business Association is searching for a professional with both sales and installationexperience. The Retrofit Installation Specialist works with businesses in the office, retail, restaurant,hospitality, and education sectors to install energy efficient equipment as part of the incentive programsoffered by electrical and gas utilities in Illinois. The qualified candidate will have 2-5 years’ experience indirect product sales, proven skills in plumbing or electrical, and the ability to manage multiple projects at the same time. The successful candidate will be able to quickly build rapport with business clients, know how to effectively manage time, and be able to complete and process accurate information and paperwork related to the installation in a timely fashion.
The candidate should have basic general knowledge of building lighting and life safety systems, electrical and lighting contracting practices, and/or the energy efficiency industry. Must have customer friendly skills and be highly motivated, well organized, self-starting, have strong written and verbal communication skills, and work well in a team setting.
Required Skills: Must be able to utilize initiative to develop good relationships with customers,
contractors, and suppliers. It is critical that productivity and accuracy be demonstrated in performance of work. This position requires a valid driver’s license and physical ability to perform field installation of simple items (such as CFLs), field energy assessments, and field verification of post installation of contractor installed energy efficient measures.
Education: Four-year degree and a minimum of 2+ years of relevant experience (such as green buildings, energy efficiency programs, utility account representation, real estate marketing, or in the building development/construction industry) preferred. High School degree with additional 4+ years of directly related energy efficiency experience might be considered. Excellent written, verbal, and customer communication skills are essential.
As an independent contractor, candidates are offered a high level of autonomy, work flexibility, and the opportunity to contribute to the welfare of the environment. This position is contract-based and is compensated based on commission. Candidates must successfully complete a drug screen.
